Neath Castle

Afon Hepste

This is a stream that runs through Upper Neath, along which there is a pool where the ghost is reputed to have been “doomed to dwell”. However, this particular spirit was said to have been cast into the form of a frog.

The Haunted Mansion

Prior to 1831, there emerged a story that there was a haunted mansion in Neath. Unseen hands would shut windows, and the apparition of a “fine old-looking gentleman sitting on a chair” was reported. The apparition then went on to reveal that money was secreted under a flagstone in the dairy, which was later found.
